COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENT and Parent Conference
Includes a combination of file review, standardized testing and clinical observations to assess speech and language strengths and weaknesses. Based on your child's needs testing may include: assessment of articulation skills, expressive and receptive language testing. Assessment duration is typically one hour, however, if additional information is needed, your clinician will talk about schedule additional testing dys. Additional information is obtained from caregivers and teachers via questionnaire and interview.
Following the assessment a parent conference will be held to review the assessment findings and provide a written report to the parents/caregivers along with a home program, as needed.
INDIVIDUAL THERAPY SESSIONS
At Early Life Speech & Language, we offer individualized, one-on-one, research-based therapy.
Therapy typically consists of individualized sessions including the child, his or her parents or caregivers, siblings if present, and a speech-language pathologist. Most children look forward to our play-based therapy; it’s fun! Because treatment sessions are engaging, kids are able to maintain focus and learn more. Parents are encouraged to either observe and participate in therapy sessions. During or after each visit they are coached on a variety of activities so they can work with their child at home and throughout everyday experiences between sessions.
INDIVIDUAL and GROUP PARENT EDUCATION
Sessions focus on effective methods and proven strategies to promote speech and language development as you interact with your child at home and during everyday activities.
Group sessions are taught by certified speech-language pathologists and are scheduled on a as needed basis throughout the year. If you are interested in attending a group session please contact ELS&L for more information. We encourage parents, grandparents, caregivers or anyone in regular contact with your child to attend.
